Artificial intelligence (AI) policy
Our journal recognizes the utility of AI tools in enhancing the writing and readability of submitted manuscripts, as well as in the collection of scientific literature. However, we stress the importance of their responsible use, limited to specific purposes, and strictly prohibit their use for generating academic content. Despite the significant advancements in AI tools in recent years and their increasing efficacy, our journal does not acknowledge them as legitimate methods for generating knowledge and scientific output.
Authorship
AI tools cannot be credited as authors of manuscripts, as the human capacity for critical evaluation of content intended for journal and scientific community presentation is indispensable.
Authors are required to declare that no portion of their manuscript has been generated by AI tools upon submission, and a declaration on the use of AI-assisted tools for writing will be required in the manuscript. Additionally, a declaration regarding the use of AI-assisted tools for writing will be required within the manuscript.
Methods and procedures
The various processes involved in data production or collection, evaluations and clinical procedures, statistical analyses, or other methodological aspects facilitated by AI tools must be appropriately declared, described, and justified. The Editorial Committee will evaluate their validity based on the relevance, scope, and impact of these tools on the reliability of the data, the plausibility of the results obtained, and their interpretation. In this context, the Editorial Committee reserves the right to request information regarding the AI tools employed at any stage of the editorial process.
Peer review
Recognizing that the editorial process involves handling confidential information in manuscripts, which does not constitute a valid scientific contribution until accepted for publication, it is imperative to protect the confidentiality and anonymity of the content. In this context, the utilization of AI tools for manuscript review presents a potential risk to the integrity of the information, as it may be susceptible to data harvesting by AI training databases or other uses. Consequently, our journal does not support the use of AI tools by peer reviewers. Reviewers who accept requests to evaluate manuscripts must declare that they will not employ AI. Additionally, peer review reports suspected of being generated by AI tools will be deemed invalid and will not be forwarded to authors for their consideration.
